Wetter than an Otter’s pocket

Brentford v Sheffield United 0266

Damned that was wet, bloody wet, hey ho! all the kit is now drying out in the airing cupboard &  the bags are hanging on radiators along with the coat. Forgot to bring my waterproof trousers, so got just a little damp.

The kit seems to have survived, but won’t know for sure until it has dried out completely.

Wayward Lens Caps

Canon 15mm F2.8 0011A

If you have a Canon wide angle with the aluminium push fit caps, they can after a period of time become loose (to be honest they aren’t great when new), however they can be sorted with a couple of bits of self adhesive velcro.

I have done mine & you can now pick up the lens by the front cap.

Ok last week was cold..

Fulham v QPR 0894

Fulham’s Floyd AYITE & QPR’s Darnell FURLONG

But f*ck me yesterday at the Fulham v QPR match was even colder. I couldn’t feel my fingers after the first 20 minutes of the game. which made it kind of difficult to find the back button for AF, even finding the shutter release was hit & miss. Took fully 40 minutes in the car with the heater blowing on my feet before they defrosted.

Gitzo Pod

Gitzo Monopod 0002

18/03/2018. Gitzo Travel MonoPod GM2562T

Having had a Manfrotto CarbOne monopod for about 18 years & an aluminium Manfrotto monopod since 1980, it seemed about time to replace, especially as the Clip Locks on the CarbOne are difficult to use with gloves on. After some research (OK I looked on Amazon) I found one that will do the job, and as a bonus will also fit in the Pelicase with the 400mm, rather than being “bungy strapped” to the outside of the case.

As with most things that are overpriced, it came in  very luxurious packaging, including a plastic holder containing an Allen key & a set of instructions. Whilst it is not as tall as either of my other monopods, it will be used whilst sitting down 95% of the time.

F*ck that’s wide

18/03/2018. Canon 14mm F2.8L mkII

I haven’t had a 14mm for a little while,  the last one that I had was a Sigma 14mm F2.8 which I had on loan for a review which was Ok, prior to that I had a Canon 14mm F2.8L which was pretty poor, not sure whether I just had a poor example or whether they were all as bad. However, I decided that I should have one in my bag, so I went for the Canon 14mm F2.8 L mkII.

I will update when I have had a chance to use it in anger!

Wet Wipes?!

Zeiss Wipes

When I  had the kit calibrated a few weeks ago, the guy recommended (and even gave me a few) Zeiss Lens Wipes. Having used them I purchased some from Amazon & was slightly surprised at how cheap they are. Definitely recommend having a few in your camera bag.
